If a governing body is giving up its school’s accreditation or no longer offering a specific type of education, it must give the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB) the surrender notice before the effective date. Otherwise, the governing body must lodge a change in circumstances within 7 days. If none of these notices are submitted, it is an offence.
The notice must include the date the surrender will take effect and accreditation will officially end on that date.
If the governing body was eligible for government funding before the surrender, and the school will no longer deliver any type of education, funding eligibility also ends on the surrender date.
