Only schools with accredited special assistance sites can use a temporary site and only in accordance with its approved attributes. Read more about

If a special assistance school wants to use a temporary site, the governing body must notify the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB) with the details (section 50 of the Act) before providing special assistance at the site.
The governing body must also notify us when they stop using the temporary site.

Start using a temporary special assistance site
To provide special assistance at a temporary site, the governing body must notify NSSAB by completing the intention to use temporary special assistance site notification form. The form must include:
- school details
- details of the temporary site, including the start date and expected end date
- reasons why the school needs to provide special assistance at temporary site
- evidence that the school is entitled to occupy the temporary site for educational purposes
- information about school resources, such as staffing, land and building approvals and educational facilities and materials
- a declaration from the governing body confirming that the temporary site is needed for the stated reasons, and that the school will meet the temporary site criteria.

Stop using a temporary special assistance site
To let us know that a school has stopped providing special assistance at a temporary site, the governing body must complete and submit the stop use of temporary special assistance site notification form. This must be done on or before the end of 200 consecutive school days.

Keep using a temporary special assistance site
To keep using a temporary site beyond 200 consecutive school days, the governing body must apply to include the site in the school's accreditation by submitting a new site application to us. This application must be submitted before the 200 consecutive school days end. Special assistance at the site can continue while the application is being assessed.
