The Queensland Child and Family Commission (QFCC) is responsible for managing, overseeing, and monitoring how the Child Safe Organisations (CSO) system is implemented and followed, including the Child Safe Standards, Universal Principle, and Reportable Conduct Scheme. NSSAB is a collaborative regulator under the
Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (CSO Act).
Non-state schools are considered child safe entities that work with or provide services to children and must follow the CSO system.

The Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB) and the QFCC are working together to ensure non-state schools have the tools, knowledge, and support needed to successfully implement the CSO system.
As part of the accreditation criteria for student welfare processes, non-state schools must comply with the CSO Act to protect the health and safety of students—Education (Accreditation of Non-State Schools) Regulation 2017 (section 15).
