Regional visits
The Board has conducted a program of regional meetings and school visits since 2002.
The program is designed primarily to facilitate familiarisation visits to as many non-State schools in a geographical location as possible.
Board members attend schools in small groups, using visits as an opportunity to gain an insight into the issues currently being addressed by the schools. The visits are intended for familiarisation purposes only and are not part of the formal accreditation and assessment work undertaken by the Board and Secretariat.
The regular, scheduled meetings of the Board are incorporated into this regional program.
In some locations, the mayor of the local city council will host a welcome function for Board members, and for the principals and chairpersons of the governing bodies of local non-State schools, as well as local councillors. Such council-sponsored events are valuable opportunities for members to meet with school principals and representatives of school governing bodies as a whole, as well as to understand local needs.
